It is defined as ‘ability of
brain to reorganize itself and relearn lost functions’
Neuroplasticity allows the neurons in the brain to compensate
for injury and to adjust their activities in response to new
situations.
The brain compensates for damage by reorganization and
forming new connections between intact neurons e.g. if one
hemisphere of brain is damaged the intact hemisphere may take
over the control of that function.
In order to reconnect, the neurons need to be stimulated
through activity. |
